After several weeks of no rain, on Friday night November 18, 2016, it finally came down in earnest for several hours. The next day dawned clear and cool into a beautiful day. As usual, Bubba was outside en-joying his cup of coffee and the sunshine. As he sat there, he noticed some ants hard at work on their nest. The hard rain had nearly destroyed it the night before so they were busy at daylight repairing the damage.

They were oblivious to the 40 degree temperature as they worked together, as one, to get the work done.

Solomon spoke of the ants in Proverbs 6:6-8. “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.”

He told us to watch and learn from them. They do their work, day after day after day. They do their preparation for winter while it is summer. They do not wait until tomorrow. Untold millions of them die every year, yet the rest keep going and preparing as if each one of them is going to live through another year. They don’t waste time.

An obstacle can be put in their way and they will go over, around, under or through it. Nothing but death stops them.

The whole colony will die defending their nest if need be. They will work, as one, to destroy an invader of the nest. No matter how big that invader may be. They will take down a full grown cow or a grasshopper. They do what they must do…every day.

When this is read, 2016 will have gone into the history books. Millions have suffered death, sickness, trouble and calamity. Even some of our church families have faced disaster and hard times and these things are still reverberating though the church. Decisions and actions of the past are still bearing fruit today.

We wonder at times about what we can do about it. We find our answers in the Word, beginning with Philippians 3:13,14: “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

No, that does not mean we can forget; but it does mean we can go…must go…have to go on and not dwell on the past to where we can not function! What’s done can’t be undone.

We are members of the Body of Christ so let us work together, as one, to defend, stand and fight, as one, for each other and against the one who delights in destroying our lives…SATAN

Let us purpose to defend to the death, if need be, for our souls and the souls of our families and friends and love each other and God until the very end…for the day we join Him who gave His life for us. AMEN!

Let each of us determine our future, however long or short it might be and purpose to press…go…struggle…or whatever we have to do to make it through the days ahead. With Christ, we can face every obstacle, any trial or trouble ahead and not be stopped.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
